This was great to hear! Mary will be starring in a new film called Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The film is directed by Shaun of the Dead director, Edgar Wright. Here’s an article which The Hollywood Reporter posted.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is in negotiations to star opposite Michael Cera in Universal’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Edgar Wright is directing the adventure romance.

In Pilgrim, Winstead will play the dream woman of a young slacker (Cera). But the only way he can win her heart is by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends.

The project is based on the Oni Press graphic novel Scott Pilgrim Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life, written by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Michael Bacall and Wright wrote the screenplay.

Marc Platt and Eric Gitter are producing along with Wright and Nira Park, who produce via Big Talk Prods.

The role could take Winstead (Live Free or Die Hard) to leading lady status much the same way Knocked Up raised Katherine Heigl’s profile when she was paired opposite Seth Rogen.

As you may of noticed, i added some captures of the clips of Stop/Eject to the gallery. Also i added some behind the scenes shots of Mary on-set. Mary wrote to Liesl at MaryEWinstead.com about the project.

“I just wanted to give you some info about this short so that you can clarify to fans who may think this was something I took as a job. I actually produced it with Riley who wrote and directed. Everyone worked for free and we shot in on the weekends during the writer’s strike. Nothing fancy, just a fun project and a really cool way for me to experience being on both sides of the camera. The whole short is 25 minutes long. We’re currently working on post sound and music and we hope to show it at festivals.”

Finally, some Mary news! She has been working on a small project called Stop/Eject which is a short film, co-written by Riley Stearns (aka Mary’s boyfriend). The film centers around a missing VHS tape and the problems it causes for a pair of memory archivists. It looks really interesting and it’s great to see Mary acting again. The film also stars Ryan Merriman, a close friend and Final Destination 3 co-star to Mary. Here are a few clips that have been put together. Also, new updates with the site … there will be a total makeover coming soon. I want to go over most files and update it before Make it Happen promotion begins. Also the gallery is going to be moved and updated and finally, there will be a brand new streaming video network all on Mary. This will be coming up in the next few months.
